Firmware Updates require that you restart your machine. Make sure you follow the directions in the Firmware Updater how to section.
Install or Update to OS X
Insert the OS X v. 10.x installer CD. Review the Welcome to Mac OS X manual.
Open the CD window and run the OSX installer⇒ follow the prompts and restart ⇒ NOTE: Do Not Check the ERASE DESTINATION AND FORMAT AS MAC OS EXTENDED checkbox.
ALSO NOTE: Installing all the foreign language plug-ins when installing OS X is a lengthy process. The foreign language installation is part of the EASY INSTALL package. These foreign languages are rarely used on our campus. If you want to minimize installation time and save space on your hard drive, we suggest you do a CUSTOM INSTALL and uncheck all the boxes pertaining to the different foreign language components.
The Mac will reboot starting up from OS X. The Setup Assistant runs and you must answer all the questions!
Once you are finished with the Setup Assisitant, the OS X Software Update application should run automatically and inform you of the needed updates for OS X ⇒ run all the updaters. It is also a good idea to run the Software Updater multiple times until the updater reports that your machine is up to date. After all updates have been installed, restart the Mac.
