OS X version 10.4 or higher
With any document, in any application, go to the FILE menu and select PRINT. The PRINT dialog box appears.
In the bottom left of the PRINT dialog box, click and hold on the PDF dropdown, and from the sub-menu, select SAVE AS PDF...
The SAVE AS dialog appears. Give your document a file name (You do not have to add .pdf at the end of the file name. This is done automatically for you.)
Select the location for your document to reside, and then click once on the SAVE button.
That's it. You now have a pdf document saved in the location you specified!
OS X version 10.2x or 10.3x
With any document, in any application, go to the FILE menu and select PRINT. The PRINT dialog box appears.
In the bottom left of the PRINT dialog box, click once on the SAVE AS PDF... button.
The SAVE TO FILE dialog box appears. In the SAVE AS: edit box, type a name for your pdf document.
NOTE: We suggest the following naming conventions to insure that your document can be opened on any computer:
Pick a name with no more than 8 characters.
Then add a period (.) and pdf at the end, like this: document.pdf
Do not use any special characters other than an underscore (_)
Do not use a second period (.)
Finally, in the bottom right of the SAVE TO FILE dialog box, click once on the SAVE button.
That's it. You now have a pdf document saved in the location you specified!
OS X version 10.1.x
With any document, in any application, go to the FILE menu and select PRINT. The PRINT dialog box appears.
In the bottom center of the PRINT dialog box, click once on the PREVIEW button.
Your document now opens in the application PREVIEW.
Go to the FILE menu, and select SAVE AS PDF...
The SAVE AS pane appears.
In the SAVE pane, SAVE AS: edit box, type the name of your document.
We suggest the following naming conventions to insure that your document can be opened by anyone on any computer:
Pick a name with no more than 8 characters.
Then add a period (.) and pdf at the end, like this: document.pdf.
Do not use any special characters other than underscore (_).
Do not use a second period (.)
Using the WHERE: drop down box, slect the desired location on your hard drive for your document, then click on the SAVE button.
That's it. You now have a pdf document saved in the location you specified!
