OS X - Connect to the Software Server
Authentication for the Software Server requires your short username and unified password, the same as your email. (The short name format is the first initial and a maximum of seven letters of the last name.)
Launch your favorite web browser, and type software.fandm.edu into the address bar.
Type your short username and unified password into the aprropriate boxes.
When you log in, the Software Server looks at your username and password and the platform of your computer to determine the download software to display for you.
The software list is divided into two categories. The first category is CORE and includes the Franklin & Marshall Network Installer, Microsoft Office, Virus Protection, and VPN software.
The second category, SPECIALTY, includes other licensed software used on campus but not by everyone, for example, MeetingMaker, Citrix, Retrospect Client, and FTP applications.
To download any given software, click once on the TITLE or the FILE NAME of that software.
Here is an image of the Software Server (the download links will not work from this page):
You can verify the progress of your download by viewing the DOWNLOAD MANAGER of your web browser.
Once the software is downloaded, go to the location where your browser puts downloads (for most of us, that location is the Desktop), and if the image has not mounted, double-click on it.
If you have downloaded an installer, double-click the installer to initiate installation of your software.
If you have downloaded a folder with the application, simply copy the folder to your APPLICATIONS folder.
Once the installation or copy process has finished, you can put the image file into your TRASH CAN.
