F&M Computing Unsubscribing Directions

To unsubscribe from any lists or email groups, the place to start is in the email itself. Most, if not all, email groups have an address or a URL, usually at the bottom of their email messages, which directs the user to the unsubscribing directions. Some groups will ask to copy that address and paste it in a web browser to open their unsubscribe page. Others just give the user a link to click on, usually at the bottom of the email message that takes them straight to the unsubscribe page.

Once the user finds the unsubscribe page, each email group or newsletter might have its own instructions about how to unsubscribe. For example, some groups instruct the user to put specific headings as a subject of the email he/she sends to unsubscribe. Others ask the user to put specific text in the body of the email.

One thing to make a note of is that the senders of some lists and group emails want the user to confirm his/her unsubscription through email. The user receives an email and he/she has to reply to confirm the unsubscription.
