OS X: Installing VPN Private Network Software
Please Note:
To install VPN, you need to connect to the SOFTWARE SERVER. Please note that you cannot connect to any servers using your wireless connection until after you install and setup your VPN software. Therefore, you need to have an ethernet connection before you start the installation process.
Log into the Franklin & Marshall Software Server via the following link. Authentication for the Software Server requires your short username and unified password, the same as your email. (The short name format is the first initial and a maximum of seven letters of the last name.) From there, follow the instructions for downloading the anti-virus software.

On your desktop, locate and double-click the FANDM-OSX-VPN-x.x.x.dmg file.
The CiscoVPNClient disk image icon appears on your desktop. Double-click this icon to display the contents of the installer folder.
Double-click the file named "Cisco VPN Client.mpkg" to launch the installation program.
A window appears informing you that you need to authenticate this installation. Type your OS X username and password (NOT your Franklin & Marshall username and password), which is the name of the account you created when you first set up your Mac. Click the 'OK' button.
The installer window appears. Cisco VPN requires Mac OS X 10.1.5 or greater. When you are sure you have this version (the installer instructs you how to check if you do not know), click the 'Continue' button.
The Software License Agreement window appears. Read through the agreement, and click on the 'Continue' button when you are finished (you cannot install this software without agreeing to the terms).
This window asks you to choose a destination to install the Cisco VPN Client (the program you will use). In most cases you will only have one choice, so click on the picture of the hard drive to make the green arrow appear.
(If you have more than one hard drive, select the one to which you wish to install Cisco VPN -- we recommend the drive that has the OS installed on it).
The installation begins. A progress bar appears, indicating the status of the installation.
Once the installation is complete, you will see the phrase "The software was sucessfully installed." Click on the 'Close' button to finish the installation and quit the installer program.
Your VPN is now successfully installed and you no longer need the FANDM-OSX-VPN-4.0.1 disk image on your desktop, so you can drag it to the trash on the dock. After you do this, you can also disconnect from the SOFTWARESERVER by moving the OS X SOFTWARE icon to the trash as well.
Now, how do you use what you just installed? Before you can use the benefits of VPN, you must connect to the network with the VPN Client.
