How to Check Your IP Address

Being able to check you're network information, including IP address, can be very useful when having network problems. While there are other ways to check your IP address in Windows XP, this method will work for any version of Windows.

You can start by selecting the Run option under the Start menu. Then type in cmd or command.

To see a basic set of information, including your IP address, type the command ipconfig into the command window that appears. What you should see should look similar to this:

You can also obtain a more comprehensive listing of the network information by typing in the command ipconfig /all. Please Note: There is a space between the 'g' in ipconfig and the '/'. To see more information about using the ipconfig command type ipconfig /?.

To close the command window, simple type in the command exit.
