Proxy Server Set-upTo use the Franklin & Marshall Library search services (such as Lexis/Nexis) from off-campus locations, Proxy Service is necessary to use in conjunction with your Internet Service Provider's connection. Please Note: These instructions cover the proxy server set up for Internet Explorer 5 and higher as well as Firefox 1.0 and Netscape 8. Click here to go directly to the instructions for Firefox and Netscape. The first step, regardless of which browser you use, is to connect to your Service Provider the way you do normally. Internet Explorer: Launch Internet Explorer and select Internet Options located under the Tools menu. Then select the Connection tab from the Internet Options window.
If you are using a dial up service, select that connection from the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings window. Then click on the settings button next to that window. If you are connecting from a computer on a local area network (LAN), select the LAN settings button instead. Skip the next step for dial-up connection set-up and procede to the set up instructions for LANs. For those using a dial-up service, select the option to use a proxy server. Type in proxy.fandm.edu for the address and 3128 for the port and click OK. Click OK one more time to get out of the Internet Options window.

You will be prompted to provide a username and password the first time you try to access a web page with these settings on. You can now use the same username and password that you use for your email.
