There are many types of workers in Computing Services. Students work in our public workroom, at our computing help desk, in our computer store, and with web design.
Is Franklin & Marshall a good place to learn about computing?
Well, we are a small, liberal arts school. This means we don't have a great deal of computing research going on here. On the other hand, we are a "small pond". This means that if you are looking for the opportunity to be a student contributor to computing on campus, this could be a good place for you.
Who may apply?
Do you like, use, and understand computers?
Do people find you approachable (be honest!)?
Are you enthusiatic about extending your computer knowledge?
Are you seeking practical work experience?
I am always willing to talk to computing enthusiasts (but I can only hire F&M students). You don't have to be a computer genius (but I'll talk to them too!). It helps if you are a work-award student, but this is not a requirement.
Just send me ( ) e-mail and I'll get back to you.
