The Computer Workroom provides the Franklin & Marshall Community, with valid college ID, a computer equipped workspace environment and is the first resource for multi-platform computer troubleshooting and printing during Help Desk closed hours. The Computer Workroom is conveniently located in the Martin Library of the Sciences and is the first resource for computer troubleshooting and printing. Service and support includes trained Computer Consultants who will aid in computer use, scanning, printing, and accessing the Internet. Consultants are familiar with all college standard software. Consultants are proficient with these programs and are able to assist the User with any general problems that may arise. This includes, but is not limited to, knowing what the program does, where it is located, how to save, and how to print. Further help can be researched in available documentation or directed to more knowledgeable resources. The Computer Workroom has the most extended hours of any computing assistance resource available on campus. Services are available via telephone, e-mail, and walk-in. Further help or questions can be directed to . You must be a current member of the Franklin & Marshall community to use the workroom. While Franklin & Marshall provides an integrated and supportive computing environment, it is the responsibility of students to: maintain their computer, install vendor supplied upgrades/patches to their operating system and applications, keep their virus protection definitions up-to-date, and backup critical data.
New Services!
Backup Stations are now available in the workroom. Students can buy DVD-R's or CD-R's from vending machines on campus or the Computer Store and use the backup stations in the workroom to back up their personal computers. PC's or Mac's can be backed up in the workroom and the student consultants are available for helping users. GoPrint Station printing is now available for students in the workroom. Using edisk as a file repository, students can now print their files/papers on a self-service GoPrint Station. There is no need to bring cash to the workroom as printing charges are handled in the same manner that a late book charge at the Library would be handled. Evening Support Managers are scheduled to offer technical assistance to the workroom users when the Computing Services' Help Desk is closed, including late night and weekends. |
